1 classic black and white movie
and
1 classic color movie!
When stampeding elephants destroy her village, Ulah is left an orphan. She goes to live in a cave with her pet tiger cub. Girl and tiger grow up together, and local natives come to believe that the silvery laughter they hear whenever they encounter the tiger means the tiger is a demon. Ulah, her “Laughing Tiger” Limau, and her chimpanzee friend Bogo live in peace in the jungle until Limau attacks American hunter Christopher Powell. Ulah calls Limau off and takes Chris to her cave where she tends his injuries with natural remedies and sings beautiful love songs to him. Ulah’s innocent forwardness puts pressure on Chris, who is already engaged to the sophisticated Ava (played by Molly Lamont).
When Chris returns to his hunting camp, Ulah, Limau, and Bogo follow. Jealousy erupts between Ulah and Ava, who nevertheless tries to “civilize” Ulah. But Ava quickly realizes that she’s losing Chris to the untamable and thoroughly charming Ulah. Natives working at the hunting camp believe Ulah to be a witch. They capture her pet tiger, and Ulah tries to free him, but she is betrayed. Ulah flees the angry natives and falls into a trap. Chris finds Ulah and tries to lead her back to her cave and safety, but the natives catch them and try to kill Ulah. Chris rescues Ulah, and the faithful Bogo takes matters into his own hands.
Graceful and charming Dorothy Lamour stars as Ulah, the Jungle Princess, in this black-and-white 1936 Paramount production that launched Lamour’s career. Ray Milland plays Christopher Powell, a hunter who comes to the jungle to bag trophy animals but instead falls under the spell of Ulah’s beauty, her stunning singing voice, and her child-like candor. Mars Rising presents Jungle Princess with a second Lamour color movie Her Jungle Love in a double feature.
Jungle Princess is filmed in black & white.
Her Jungle Love is filmed in color.
DVD with full color artwork as shown above, brand new, factory sealed in shrink wrap, and suitable for gift-giving.
This DVD is region-free US and Canadian NTSC video format, so it will play on any NTSC DVD player worldwide.
The video and audio quality of these movies is good, but due to their vintage nature, they may naturally have some flaws compared to modern films.
